Why stay

The best part
of a conference
is the bit after.

You have spent a day in rooms with the people whose work you follow. The worst thing you can do now is get a taxi.

When the stage goes dark, the room doesn't. Dscout keeps everyone in the building for drinks and the conversations that didn't fit into the Q&A — no second venue, no cab, no lanyard anxiety. Just the people you spent the day with, and another couple of hours to finish the thought you started at lunch.

  • 6PM, as the last talk ends

Your evening

Drinks, and the people
you meant to talk to.

No programme, no seating plan, nobody with a microphone. Walk out of the closing session, turn left, and the bar is open.

No journey

It is the same building. The doors open as the closing session ends, so the room you were just in simply becomes a different kind of room.

Drinks on Dscout

Dscout is hosting the bar. They spend their working life watching how people actually behave, which is a decent qualification for running a party.

The follow-up conversation

Every talk leaves a question you wanted to ask. This is where you ask it — of the speaker, or of the four other people who were thinking it too.

After the last talk at DDX — the same evening, one conference earlier.

The guest list

Everyone who was
in the room all day.

Dscout is hosting; the guest list is the DDX London room — the brand, product, research and design leaders who spent the day together.

The address

Museum
of the Home.

Almshouses built on Kingsland Road in 1714, a museum since 1914, reopened in 2021 after an £18m rebuild. Come in through the Hoxton entrance below — the station is directly opposite. Of all the places to argue about what we should build next, this one has been thinking about how people actually live for three hundred years.
